Recorded April 17, 2007 at the Redcat Theatre in Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles by the late Steve Barker. Recorded using 3 MA-100s suspended from the ceiling at a height of 15′ above the stage, spaced about 10′ apart. Mixed live to stereo. (more info about Redcat Theatre)
BURAT WANGI (fragrant offering) is an active Balinese music and dance group based out of the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. The group was founded in 1972 by I Nyoman Wenten (artistic director), Nanik Wenten (dance director), and K.P.H. Notoprojo, the most prominent Javanese musician and composer in the 20th century. From his teenage years until the present, guitarist amd banjo player Tony Furtado has wandered through genres and styles, never growing static and always evolving musically. He has toured tirelessly for over two decades and has garnered a great deal of respect from his peers, and has opened for and toured with acts such as Greg Allman, Susan Tedeschi, Taj Mahal, Leftover Salmon, Eric Johnson and he has shared the stage with the likes of Sonny Landreth, Keith Richards, David Lindley, Derek Trucks, Norah Jones, among many others. His music has taken him all over the country and into the hearts of many a music lover. Whether he’s playing with a band, or recording as a solo artist, his playing and considerable skills as a multi-instrumentalist and his strong songwriting prowess have led to him to be embraced on record and on stage.
